Bongani Baloyi says Xiluva will be in the 2024 elections

Xiluva of Bongani Baloyi is officially registered with the Electoral Commission of South Africa.

Xiluva of Bongani Baloyi is officially registered with the Electoral Commission of South Africa.

  • Bongani Baloy’s party, Zilova, is registered with the Electoral Commission of South Africa.
  • The party, which has Ubuntu at the core of its ideology, will release its founding documents later this month.
  • Baloyi said the party has set its sights on contesting the nationwide elections.

Three months after Xiluva was formed, Bongani Baloyi finally registered his party with the South African Electoral Commission (IEC).

This paved the way for him to present the party’s founding documents on July 19.

Celebrating the achievement, Baloy, a former Action SA member, said the party had grown exponentially, which was “an indication that the people of South Africa want to change the direction this country is going”. Baloyi said:

We undertake to write a new chapter in the book of our beloved country by introducing and practicing a different kind of politics supported by the ideology of Ubuntu, where meritocracy and stability are embedded in our norms and practices.

Upon Xiluva’s launch in March, Baloyi said the party would be an alternative political vehicle for people between the ages of 18 and 45. However, he said, the party had the support and interest of the older generation, which he welcomed.

Baloyi has set his sights on meeting the IEC’s threshold to compete nationally in 2024 by collecting signatures from registered voters.

Baloyi, who said he left ActionSA over trust issues with its leader Herman Machapa, has spearheaded nationwide initiatives to encourage young people and their families to join Xiluva and register to vote.
