Planned Joburg water outages Going forward, the impact may be felt for two weeks

Johannesburg residents have been urged to prepare for the planned 58-hour water outage and have been warned that the impact could last up to two weeks in some areas.

According to Rand Water, maintenance will be performed to replace multiple valves at the Vereeniging water treatment plant, the Eikenhof booster pumping station and the Zuikerbosch water treatment plant.

The final part of the project will include work on the electrical panels at the Lethabo pumping station.

The 58-hour project will start at 7pm on Tuesday and run until 5am on Friday. Some residents within Rustenburg Municipality, Mughal City Municipality and Randwest Municipality will experience intermittent water supply during project implementation.

“Maintenance is providing a window period for interventions that cannot be carried out while the plant is in operation. The benefit is to upgrade the infrastructure, improve its reliability, keep it operating optimally and improve its reliability.
