Five children were killed in a horror crash Sunday night when the Ford Bantam bakkie they were riding with six others overturned on the N1 near Brackenfell just before midnight.
Western Cape police spokesman Captain Van Wyck said the children, aged between 1 and 10, died at the scene.
The Ford Bantam was traveling on the N1 [in the] direction [of] Cape Town from Koue Bokkeveld to Du Noon when the car [was involved in] He said: “An adult man was arrested and will appear in court as soon as he is charged.”
Three other people were taken to hospital for treatment and a female passenger was taken to Brackenfell SAPS for advice.
Van Wyck said the police are investigating a culpable homicide case.

Mobility Department spokesman Jandri Packer said the main road was closed to motorists while evacuating the area.
