The City of Johannesburg is investigating the cause of a fire at a customer service center in Randburg on Sunday morning.
Randburg residents who pay their rates in person at this location will have to travel to another location.
The city cannot say how long it will take to rebuild the center.
EFG spokesman Nyanyesu Geko said the building was not completely destroyed but the fire affected the service centre.
The city said on Monday that the cause of the fire was not yet known and that the center was considered unsafe for residents and staff.
Residents of Randburg are advised to visit the following centres:
- Roodepoort Customer Service Center – 100 Christiaan de Wet Road, W
- Florida Park Sandton Customer Service Center – 137 Daisy Street, Sandown.
Kgamanyane Maphologela, Director of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, said the city is doing its best to ensure the center is operational as soon as possible.
“The city would like to apologize to its customers for any inconvenience caused by this unfortunate incident,” Mavulugella said.
