The Gauteng Roads and Transport Department has confirmed the temporary closure of the Mapunya Mall Licensing Center in Soweto during Water cuts.
The outage began at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and ends at 5 a.m. on Friday. It will affect large areas of the city.
The purpose of the shutdown is to replace and upgrade aging critical infrastructure and reduce unplanned infrastructure outages.
Joburg Water confirmed that only Midrand and parts of Sandton are exempt from the outage.
Johannesburg Water said Rand Water will carry out the work on the Ferenging water treatment plant, the Eikenhof booster pumping station, the Zwickerbosch water treatment plant and the Zwartkopjes system.
