Good Samaritan rescued two drowning teens with the help of a National Maritime Rescue Institute (NSRI) pink lifebuoy that was stationed ashore by Emberton Way in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal.
NSRI Ballito station captain Mike Bishop said four teens were on boards in the surf when they may have been threatened by rip currents.
Three teens got out of the water, but a 16-year-old female got caught in the rip currents. A 16-year-old man went to help her and they both fell into the rip streams.
Bishop said the girl’s father and brother went to their aid as an unidentified Good Samaritan entered the water with a pink NSRI lifebuoy stationed on the beach.
The brother was able to help the male out of the water, while the unidentified Good Samaritan helped the female out of the water using a lifebuoy. The father was also able to help them get them out of the water.
