Police in Pushpackridge, Mpumalanga, are searching for those who shot two people at a Doarslop liquor outlet on Thursday night and hijacked another man’s car.
Mpumalanga Police Commissioner Lt. Gen. Simakaling Daphne Manamila vowed that the police would work tirelessly to find those responsible for the “horrific” crime.
According to the police, a victim, about 40 years old, bought the goods at the liquor store, and then joined his friends outside. Then armed men appeared and shot him several times.
Police spokesman Brigadier General Sylvie Muhlala said the victim was declared dead at the scene, while the body of the other victim, believed to be around 35 years old, was found a stone’s throw away with a bullet wound to the back.
“It is also alleged that after the indiscriminate shooting, another victim who was sitting in his Toyota Hilux was abducted by the suspects. He was allegedly dropped off along the way,” Muhlala said.
Police urged anyone with information to contact Lt. Col. Laurence Sepoy at 076-923-4047 or call the Crime Stop at 08600-10111.
Alternatively, community members can submit information via the MySAPS app. All information will be treated as confidential and contacts can remain anonymous,” Mohlala said.
