The police made a third arrest in connection with the recent series of attacks on trucks in different governorates.
Twenty-one trucks were set on fire over the past few days in Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo. Police made a breakthrough on Thursday when two men, aged 27 and 29, were arrested. One of the arrested men is believed to have been caught on dash cam footage setting a truck on fire.

Now a third man is behind bars after he was arrested in Imaleni, Mpumalanga, on Thursday night, according to National Police spokesperson Brigadier General Atlinda Mathi.
The three are expected to appear in Ermelo Magistrates Court on Monday.
Police Minister Biki Seeley has dismissed suggestions of a link between truck arson in KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga and the anniversary of the July 2021 unrest.

Meanwhile, during a news conference about the truck attacks on Tuesday, he said intelligence indicated the attacks could be work-related — rather than random criminal acts.
“The evidence presented to us points to organized, coordinated and sophisticated operations aimed at undermining and sabotaging the state,” he said at the time.
Nine trucks were set on fire in KwaZulu-Natal, another nine in Mpumalanga and three in Limpopo.
