A 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck the Alaska Peninsula early Sunday morning, the US Geological Survey said, prompting a tsunami warning for nearby areas.
The USGS has revised the quake’s magnitude from an initial reading of 7.4, and has revised the earthquake’s depth to 32.6 km from an initial 9.3 km.
The US Tsunami Warning System issued a tsunami warning for southern Alaska, the Alaska Peninsula, and Pacific Ocean areas near the earthquake.
