
KZN police discovered Dagga factories and equipment worth R10 million during a routine patrol in Umkomaas on Sunday.

- Two suspects, aged 30 and 33, have been arrested and are expected to appear in Scottburgh Magistrates Court soon.
Police in KwaZulu-Natal have closed a drug lab containing 1,200 dja plants and processing equipment worth up to R10 million in Umkomas, south of Durban.
Two suspects, aged between 30 and 33, were found in a “secret hydroponic” plant at a local farm on Sunday afternoon.
KZN police spokesman Col. Robert Nchiyonda said police were routinely patrolling the area when they stumbled upon the drug manufacturing hub.

“The police are approaching a third suspect who is believed to be the owner of the Daja factory,” he said.
He said the suspects were expected to appear at Scottburgh Magistrates Court soon. He added that the police confiscated their equipment and laboratories.

Another drug den is located
Nchiyonda said that in a separate incident, they acted on a tip-off about a large amount of drugs destined for the streets of Durban.
“The team moved to the specified location and raided an apartment in Pointe [Mahatma Gandhi Street]. Seven thousand five hundred ecstasy tablets, cocaine and ephedrine powder were found inside the apartment.
Nchiyonda said the estimated market value of the drugs is 1.2 million rand.
The police launched a search for the suspect who rented the apartment.
