A woman has been arrested after two people were burned to death inside a hut at Vossmann in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, at the weekend.
Mpumalanga police spokesman Albriga Sylvie Mohlala said a 30-year-old woman is expected to appear in the Imaliene Magistrates Court on Tuesday on charges of murder and arson.
He said police and paramedics reported the incident, which left two people ablaze, in Vossman on Sunday morning.
“Upon their arrival, it was discovered that the two, a 27-year-old male and a 40-year-old female, had been burned beyond recognition and were unfortunately attested by the medical staff,” he said.
He said that the investigation had begun, and the woman had been arrested.
The investigation into the motive behind this frustrating incident is unknown. However, domestic violence cannot be ruled out.
The Mpumalanga Provincial Commissioner, Lt. Gen. Simakaling, condemned the incident.
