A former manager in KwaZulu-Natal has been sentenced to life in prison for repeatedly raping a 15-year-old boy.
The verdict was handed over by the Friheid Magistrates Court to Mduduzi Ndlovu, 39, on Tuesday.
Police spokesman Col. Robert Nchiyonda said on Wednesday the court heard how Ndlovu manipulated and abused the teenager, whom he trusted and believed in as his teacher.
“Investigations established that on one afternoon in 2018, the principal asked the boy to help him in his office, and inside the office, the convicted rapist became aggressive and raped the victim.”
Nchiyonda said Ndlovu threatened to harm the boy if he told anyone about the incident.
He also gave him money and stationery in exchange for his silence.”
Ndlovu raped the boy on several occasions and would sometimes bring him home and then drive him to his residence in Bikozulu district, where he would rape the boy.
“In the year 2022, a church member noticed strange behavior from the boy and questioned him. The teen broke his silence and a rape case was duly opened.”

Ndlovu appeared in court several times before his conviction.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape and was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
His name will be added to the National Sex Offender Registry.
In a separate incident, Mluli Ndlovu, 31, was sentenced to life in prison by the Verulam Regional Court after being found guilty of raping a 19-year-old relative.
Almost a year ago, on the evening of 23 July 2022, Ndlovu took the victim to Ndwengo District, where the rape took place.
He then drove to Mahlabthini, where he continued his rape.
In both cases, he raped the victim inside his car. The ruling was issued last week.
