The Free State Police found the elderly woman a knife-wielding man who had been tortured in an incident that was caught on video and went viral.

Police spokeswoman Captain Lorraine Earl said Friday that the woman was “consulting” with police on Thursday.

Earl said cases of intimidation and assault have been opened.

In one of the videos, which has caused massive protests this week, the man can be seen ordering the elderly woman to put her hands on a table.

Then he grabs the knife in her fingers and asks again and again:

Are you going to talk? Where were you Thursday night, were you here or not?

The visibly distressed woman replied that she was home.

“Who are the people who organized this thing? You’re busy pissing me off. Should I cut you off? Are you going to talk?” He demands.

But she replies that she knows nothing.

In a second video, the man places a red towel over the woman’s head and face as she screams hysterically.

He points to her and says, “Are you going to talk?” before asking any more questions. Crying can be heard saying, “I don’t know, I don’t know Bass (chief)”.

Earle said the incident occurred on a farm in Henneman in 2020 and that the man has not been arrested.

“After the police finish their investigation, the case will be referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions,” she said.
