Mark Moyene, MP for Embakasi West, now claims his life is in danger.
The politician has now asked Musa Wetangula, the speaker of the National Assembly, and Inspector General of Police Japheth Comey to take action to protect him.
The accusation comes days after Mr Eric Ogwang, the member’s bodyguard, was accused of shooting two people at the offices of the West Embakasi Constituency Development Funds (CDF).
The shooting incident came amid reports of a fallout between Mwinyi and his predecessor, George Theory.
“All I want to say now is that my life is in danger and this is the second time something like this has happened here. Someone is sending armed youths to my job,” said Mr. Mwinyi.
Indeed, the MP registered a statement at Boroburo Police Station where he raised concerns saying he needed more security too.
The bodyguard was charged on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in Madaraka Law Court, but authorities were allowed to keep him for an additional 14 days.
He was granted freedom after posting a cash bail of Sh100,000.
Disturbance at the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) offices in Umoja 1 was reported by former MP for Embakasi West George Theori from Kamkonji sub-district in a police report to Boroboro Police Station.
“He stated that there was a commotion in the CDF offices in Umoja 1 which is 2 km from the station and has two groups. The current MP Mr. Mweni was there and in the scuffle his bodyguard who was identified as Mr. Eric Ogwang shot the two of them.”
From there, cops rushed to the scene, and Jericho’s gun, which had 10 rounds, was disarmed by the officer. The firearm was kept as an exhibit.
