Security personnel are searching for the people who killed a 64-year-old woman and dumped her body inside her impromptu bathroom in Rachuonyo, Homa Bay.
Her grandchildren, who visited her in Kaponyo village in Kakanguto sub-district, discovered Margaret Oma’s murder on Monday.
Her eyes were removed, and they were cut out with a blunt object. Her forehead was badly slashed.
The killers also cut off Uma’s braids and left them at the crime scene.
The fact that she was discovered naked suggests that she may have been bathing when the assassins attacked her.
The police have not yet determined the cause of the death of the elderly man.
However, County Sheriff Samson Kane stated that the incident is still under investigation.
Uma, according to the villagers, was a devout Christian who would pray for guests in her home.
Most of the patients who came to see her asked for prayers.
One of her grandchildren claims that the accident happened while their grandfather was away.
“He was in another house when information about the murder reached him,” the grandson said.
Uma is found lying in a pool of blood with her rosary on a tree branch next to her house.
Kenyatta Oleil, assistant chief of Kakanguto sub-district, said the woman may have been tortured before she was killed.
He said that the act of cutting her hair and gouging out her eyes showed that she had been subjected to some form of torture.
“The matter has been reported to Otoro Police Station for further investigation,” Mr. Oleil said.
Mr. Kane pleaded with the residents to help the detectives catch the suspects.
There may be people who have information that enables us to apprehend the suspects. “We are imploring them to speak to us,” said the chief of police.
