On April 8, 2023, Chief William Samui Ruto is seen working alongside his farm workers to prepare one of his plots for the next planting season.

Dennis Itumbi, blogger and Senior Administrative Secretary, posted a number of photos and videos on social media where President Ruto can be seen driving a tractor called Case IH JX75 MaxPro pulling a plow.

The chief is seen repairing and unclogging plows and driving around the farm plowing. He was dressed casually in blue jeans, ankle boots, a cowboy hat, and sunglasses.

It was also apparent that the front and rear of the large piece of equipment did not have the number plates commonly used to identify vehicles.

According to the Traffic Act 2016, the chief is liable to a fine of 300,000 shillings or a maximum of one year’s imprisonment for this offense alone.

Samoan President William Ruto

Chief William Ruto is a famous farmer who plants extensively. He is a chicken and dairy farmer who also grows corn.

Heavy rains in Kenya heralded the planting season and farmers are busy planting maize and cereals in the northern Rift Valley and western Kenya in a bid to improve productivity and lower the cost of food.

The government has issued subsidized fertilizer to reduce the cost of production and continues to provide this subsidy in some parts of Kenya, especially the Mount Kenya region, which is believed to be the breadbasket of Kenya.
