A 53-year-old woman is accused of assaulting her husband after she allegedly doused his face with acid.
A businesswoman, Ann Ngambi, has been accused of causing bodily harm to Anthony Mwangi on April 1 at their home on the Balozi estate in Muthaiga North, Nairobi.
At around 8am, Mr. Mwangi was coming out of the bathroom when his wife allegedly sprayed something on him and then attacked him, hitting him in the face and demanding money.
Mr Mwangi alerted the police, who came to his house and rescued him after he fled to safety in the open air.
While Mr. Mwangi went to hospital for treatment, officers detained Ms. Ngambi and took her to Muthaiga Police Station.
He visited the hospital again the next day and was told that he had been splashed with a potentially dangerous substance that had damaged his skin.
Mr. Mwangi told the police that his wife had been threatening him for the past three years during the investigation.
They have been at loggerheads since 2017 over the Kiambu County property they jointly own.
On her part, Ms. Ngambi told the police that she was asking for money from her husband after he sold her car.
When she was charged before the chief judge of the Makadara Courts, Monica Kivuti, she refuted the allegations.
She was released after posting a $15,000 cash bond. Before the hearing begins on September 14, the case will be heard on May 17.
