New details emerge regarding the premeditated murder of a man and his wife in Nyamira province. A family member says there was no break-in into the house, a US-based couple were murdered, and they suspect that the “guest” who was being entertained in the house may have turned into the monster that entered the house. The house of the killers who took the lives of the spouses.
Nyagishi’s grandson, Samuel Matondora, says he does not believe those arrested were connected to the crime.
Mr Matondora said: “The helper at the house told us that on the fateful night, she served the couple food and there was a man visiting them and that he also joined them at dinner.”
He says that the helper in the house informed them that she had let Mr. Nyagishi talk to his “guest” after he had taken the super, and that his wife had retired to sleep and she too had gone to her quarters to sleep, as far as she recalled.
The horrific killing of a US-based Kenyan man and his wife in Nyamakoroto village in Kitoto-Masaba, Nyamira province shocked the community.
The saga took a new turn after family members linked the deaths to a possible property dispute.
Family members who spoke to the media said the suspected killers may have been employed and funded by a disgruntled relative over a property ownership dispute.
The decapitated bodies of Edward Morema Nyagishi, 62, and his wife, Monjina Morima, 60, were found decapitated and dumped in different rooms of their home in Nyamakoroto village on Tuesday morning.
Police in Nyamira have arrested two suspects, homesteaders and a farmer, in connection with the gruesome murder of a couple whose corpses showed they were in excruciating pain in their final moments.
One of Nyagishi’s brothers says that family members were convinced that Mr. Nyagishi may have been murdered by the murdered men, who may have been herded from Nairobi, where an alleged disaffected relative lived.
“My considered view is that the decedent may have been murdered by hired killers from Nairobi because that is where he got into trouble with a family member after he opposed trying to evict other members after the death of a loved one,” Mr. Bossier said.
“Mr Nyagishi has been at the forefront in insisting on fairness in the distribution of the property in question,” said Mr. Busiri.
They killed a great man and a leader in our family. He was trustworthy, and whenever there was a problem in the area, he would take it himself, pay the money and drive people to the hospital in his car,” said Mr. Bossier.
Mr. Nyagishi’s body was found in a pool of blood in a corner of his garage, while his wife’s body was found in the guest bedroom. Both bodies had injuries, their hands and feet tightly bound with a binding wire.
Mr. Matondora said it was established that the farm worker had locked the compound gates and left him to sleep.
“Normally the farm worker was not allowed into the main house and preliminary results showed that he closed the compound and left to sleep,” said Mr. Matondora.
“An opening was made by cutting down the fence next to the gate where the murderers were suspected to have entered the compound, committed their heinous act, and exited through,” Matondora said.
